Jan’s White Linen Couch

September 13, 2012 by Shelley

First off— I AM NOW BOOKED FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR! email me if you want on my list for January.
This couch was for my sister in law that lives in Reno. I took it back when we went for Seth’s homecoming a few weeks ago.
Couch–BEFORE– great shape I love the english rolled arms, but she wanted something brighter for her room.

Couch—AFTER

Please forgive the wrinkles—I had it folded up in a bag for the 8 hour drive to Reno. Then I literally put it on and took pictures right before we headed home…Heber was in the car with the kids waiting for me.

She chose a beautiful white linen that draped perfectly.

Here’s her whole room—I slipcovered the 2 chairs a few years ago. Everytime they come up to visit, she throws a piece of furniture in her car for me to slipcover.

Side Note— Ran Red Rock Relay this past weekend with a bunch of people from my neighborhood. The race is from Brianhead Resort to Zions…188 miles with 12 people on your team.

Here we are at the finish line! I was in van 1 this time…which means I got to shower before van 2 finished the race.

Here I am running my first leg of 8.4 miles (I averaged 8:45 per mile…yea!) My second leg was 4.6 miles and the first 2.5 miles of it was uphill, I averaged 9:45 per mile. My third leg was 2.6 miles and I averaged 8:45 per mile.

Here I am at the start line with Heber.

White Curvy Couch Slipcover

August 31, 2012 by Shelley

First off— I am booked until OCT 30th–email me if you want on my list for November (limited spots available). Don’t forget, I will not be taking any clients during the month of December.
My client loved her couch and the way it snuggled into her small space…she just wasn’t loving all the flowers anymore.

Couch—BEFORE— great curvy lines!

Couch—AFTER—white denim with a kick pleat skirt—-brightened up the room!

FRont of Arm– she picked up some great throw pillows out of a flax printed linen.

The back cushions—I kept the style the same as the original with the “kiss pleats” on the upper corners of them.

Whole room— LOVE that WINDOW/ SHUTTER thing!
SIde Note- #1— I AM BOOKED UNTIL OCTOBER 30TH! please email me if you want on my list. for NOVEMBER—limited spots (I always take December off).
Side Note #2–
This past weekend I headed to Reno to meet up with the rest of my family (all 6 siblings with their families came as well as my parents).
My oldest nephew returned from his mission for our church, so it was his homecoming! It happened to be his younger brother’s birthday on the same day…so I racked my brain trying to come up with a birthday gift for an 18 yr. old boy.

Here’s what I came up with. I made him a wallet out of some of my grandpa’s old shirts (his great grandpa). I even took a tag out of one of the shirts that had grandpa’s initials on it and sewed it on the inside as a label. Then I asked all my siblings and parents to chip in some cash to fill it up.

He LOVED it!

Tutorial for wallet can be found here…
Here’s a pic of my little family with Seth—he served in Paraguay for 2 years.
Here’s Seth with his two brothers. It was so great to see everyone and hang out. We had a BBQ and played volleyball, went to the pool, and some of the boys went shooting. I even squeezed in a fitting for a chair and ottoman while I was there.

Felted Wool Couch Slipcover

August 23, 2012 by Shelley

Couch- BEFORE— Burgandy tufted silky fabric. It also had a skirt, but my client wanted to switch it up, so she grabbed a few screwdrivers and pliers and we pulled it off and removed the staples.

Couch–AFTER

She had amazing silk drapes that were tan and light blue that framed the window with the couch. LOVED it!

Camel color felted wool. Lots of texture and it was soft and washed up AMAZINGLY! It was also a bit heavier…so it covered the tufting well.

She loved the shape of the couch because it fit perfectly in her window nook. So instead of trying to find some bulky new couch that didn’t fit, she hired me to slipcover the one she had.

Front of the arm (they call these English rolled arms)

No skirt, just ended it with piping and topstitched it up.

She had amazing silk drapes that were tan and light blue that framed the window with the couch. LOVED it!
