Now onto a slipcover makeover!

I did this chair this past spring and realized I never posted about it. My client wanted to change her cream chair to a white english rolled arm chair to go with her newly designed bedroom! Which is pretty AMAZING! IMG_2152

Matelesse Bedspread Slipcover

October 1, 2014 by Shelley

My client had this great chair which was her husbands grandma’s and it had been in the family for a long time. She wanted a matelesse bedspread slipcover. She only bought one queen size matelesse bedspread–I had to get a bit creative! I used a solid cream denim for the piping and decking and we only had enough to get the front of the pillow.

Chair–AFTER

Usually I do tuck ins down the inside wings, but with the original chair being a faux leather I knew it wouldn’t work. The fabric would slip out and shift around. I decided to run piping down the inside wing seam instead. Worked great.

With the chair being faux leather, I also staple gunned velcro underneath the base and sewed velcro to the edge of the piping along the base. That way it will stay in place better and the arms and back won’t slip and pull up.

SIDE NOTE–

#1 Running in a Relay race next weekend! Red Rock Park City. It’s a 6 person relay day race (60 miles–10 miles each). Call me crazy…but my girls (running partners) and I just signed up to run an Ultra Race in May! 3 person Relay. Day Race in Moab (60 miles total–20 miles each).

#2 My boys are growing up! My oldest is now 14! Every time I hug him, I have to keep my eyes from watering! I only have four more years with him at home! When they are little and life is crazy everyone always tells you to enjoy it and that the time flies.

I remember those days that felt like an eternity till bedtime–I’d always smile and nod and think in my head ” you promise?” (–cause I’m in survival mode and every day feels like a year). Well it’s happened! Where did the past 14 yrs go?

Back in 2005 with my 3 boys! My sister took this photo back before she became famous for her photography skills! Love how she captured the moment! My baby was always pinching and sucking his thumb and my 2 yr old terror looks so sweet and innocent! My oldest is always so accommodating and a peacemaker–look how he doesn’t mind one bit having his face squeezed and pinched by the baby.

My client picked up this chair off KSL.com to have me make her a nursery rocker slipcover out of white linen from Joanns. Beautiful stuff!
