blue and white wingbacks

June 11, 2015 by Shelley

My client wanted blue and white wingbacks. She had picked up 9 yds of the beautiful linen damask (all they had), problem was she had two chairs! That yardage would’ve only done one chair with the repeat…BUT she loved the fabric and so did I!

I love problem solving and finding solutions. She had 2 twin bedskirts that matched the damask perfectly. I figured we could use those for the skirt and use some chunky tan linen to do the outsides of the chair. To tie it all in, we did a faux button detail down the outside back. We literally had a handful of small scraps left. I matched as much as possible with the limited fabric that I had to work with.
IMG_4081Chairs-AFTER! I forgot to take a before pic., but they were originally a pieced slipcover (gingham, floral, stripes, country, pink/sage green). My client just remodeled this amazing 1970’s house on a farm. She wanted a farmhouse chic look.

She loved how they turned out!

Swivel rocker

May 28, 2015 by Shelley

My client wanted me to redo her swivel rocker that used to be her moms. It was the perfect shape and size to nestle next to her bed in the master bedroom.IMG_3931Chair–BEFORE–lots of love. I tore of the skirt and cut off the attached upper cushion before slipcovering.

Chair–AFTER with box pleat skirt and separate back cushions.

I used velcro to keep the top back cushion from falling off.

IMG_3934Much better! I love that she was able to use something that had sentimental value. You can’t beat the comfort and scale of those old chairs!

SIDE NOTE–Summer’s about here! 2 more days of school! I’m gearing up for all the craziness summer has to offer! Scout camps, camping at the beach, family reunion on the Oregon coast, paddle boarding, bike rides to Chevron and staying at our cabin in Midway, Ut. I still have lots of availability at the cabin if you are interested! $50/night and you change the linens when you leave. Email me with your dates!

Tan linen slipcovers

May 4, 2015 by Shelley

My client was ready to ditch her floral couch and loveseat and streamline her look with tan linen slipcovers.  She then chose a blue and white floral matalesse for her chair.

Here is the loveseat BEFORE! The couch was the same print.

Couch and loveseat AFTER! She chose a great tan linen that draped beautifully from Calico Corner.

Chair AFTER! We only had 9 yds of this matelesse fabric, so I scrimped to make it work. I subbed out the decking and chose not to do a skirt. Those T cushions take up more fabric than you’d think! It all worked out though, and matelesse washes up beautifully!

SIDE NOTES–My Slipcover Workshop went amazing last weekend! I had four ladies that came. They all did an amazing job and I couldn’t be more proud! For 3 of them, it was their very first slipcover!

I’ll definitely be scheduling another one soon! I’ve had quite a few emails about scheduling another one, so if you are interested let me know. Please email me heberj1@yahoo.com.
