Polka dot wingback

November 4, 2016 by Shelley

I’m booked till January! Please email me to get on my list for January. Thanks!

My client wanted to transform her chair into a polka dot wingback. She chose a great grey and cream barkcloth fabric which shaped all the curves perfectly.

Chair–AFTER! 4″ box pleat skirt along the bottom to finish it off.

Wingbacks can be tricky with the tuckins on the inside wings. This fabric bent and shaped well, so it went great.

IF you want tips on wingbacks or doing a box pleat skirt. Check out my Advanced Slipcover Guide. “Get it Covered” offers these tips as well as many more on matching, rounded inside back chairs, different skirts, on site fittings, etc.  It’s an instant download.

If you aren’t ready for advanced tips. I also have a “How to Slipcover” DVD that teaches you the basics and walks you through doing a basic rolled arm chair with piping, cushion, and skirt. It’s a great skill to learn to freshen up your home and update your space.

Side notes– I’ve been obsessed and working hard on my camper! Yesterday I finally got to sew the awning out of 20 oz outdoor fabric, while Heber did the hard part and figured out how to install the flag pole brackets. He had to cut open the walls inside and put in extra bracing.14956061_1509018442457961_5332741991170380631_nWe finished right before dark and I was able to set it up and get a pic. I’ve been envisioning this whole awning part for 6 weeks–so it was exciting to see it come together! I couldn’t be happier.

I will be renting out the camper starting next spring for $75/night. You hook it up and take it where you want. NO bathroom. Sleeps 2 adults and 3-4 smaller kids. If you want to get on the reservation calendar before I officially get it set up on Airbnb send me an email. I’ll do an official post with more pics in the next few weeks.

Cream wingbacks

September 30, 2015 by Shelley

My client wanted to update her 90’s plaid chairs to cream wingbacks. I had some cream twill on hand that worked for what she needed!IMG_4315 BEFORE—Plaid wingbacks

IMG_4325AFTER—Cream wingbacks, we kept the legs showing.

Side Notes– Well it’s hunting season here in Utah and my two oldest got to go this year! Love this pic Heber took of them! They are heading out again this weekend for anterless elk tags…hopefully they get something! They’ve been watching hunting shows since April!

My youngest is super crafty and is always trying to make something out of anything else we own. He was set on making a knife blade and needed some steel–he asked if he could have the table saw blade! That was a definite NO! He settled on an old piece of skateboard rail that was kicking around. He’s been filing this thing for days!12043111_10207822759867395_478087060166646722_n

blue and white wingbacks

June 11, 2015 by Shelley

My client wanted blue and white wingbacks. She had picked up 9 yds of the beautiful linen damask (all they had), problem was she had two chairs! That yardage would’ve only done one chair with the repeat…BUT she loved the fabric and so did I!

I love problem solving and finding solutions. She had 2 twin bedskirts that matched the damask perfectly. I figured we could use those for the skirt and use some chunky tan linen to do the outsides of the chair. To tie it all in, we did a faux button detail down the outside back. We literally had a handful of small scraps left. I matched as much as possible with the limited fabric that I had to work with.
IMG_4081Chairs-AFTER! I forgot to take a before pic., but they were originally a pieced slipcover (gingham, floral, stripes, country, pink/sage green). My client just remodeled this amazing 1970’s house on a farm. She wanted a farmhouse chic look.

She loved how they turned out!
