Shabby Chic Slipcovers

My client wanted to update her sunroom with some shabby chic slipcovers. She chose a great light floral linen…almost a tone on tone, so very soothing but with detail.

Here’s the before, just a pair of neutral restoration hardware couches. They were great, but just not the overall feel she wanted.

AFTER!

I did 3x gather on the skirt. She wanted them as full as I could get them. She loves the look of fat piping, but since it’s hard to work with, I suggested normal piping for the body and fat piping on the cushions. It was perfect! She loved the look.

How beautiful is this room?!

Side notes– Heber and I were on a day date the other day and he was asking me how long ago we bought our first condo rental. I told him it was about 3.5 yrs ago, because I remember I had a 3 yr goal to pay it off before Logan left on his mission. He laughed at that…because we now own 3 condos in that same time frame free and clear.

It’s amazing when you set your mind to something, what you can accomplish. I hussled, worked hard and pretty much thought about it on a weekly basis. It was at the forefront of my thoughts. Anytime I had extra $, that’s where I put it, and when we decided it was time to sell the cabin, that’s where we put the proceeds (another condo rental).

Just this past week I found an index card that I had written my 2017 goals on. Write your goals down! Make them happen! What are some of your goals?

Now I’m trying to relax a little bit on the $ stuff. I had my goals and reached them, now I’m telling myself to enjoy the passive rental income a little bit. So I went on a trip to Mexico with my sister on a whim with 10 days notice, and I mostly didn’t feel bad about the money. haha! I mean I still worked it and got a great deal on the flight.

Also my husband and boys signed up for a 25 hr relay Mountain Bike race, and I about choked at the registration fee, but then thought what a great opportunity for the boys to ride with their dad and create memories #boytrip. That’s what life is about creating connections and making memories. Have at it!

Grey and cream striped couch

My client had this great couch sitting in the garage, but the slipcover was pretty damaged and worn. The underneath still looked great. She decided to have it slipcovered for her piano room in a great neutral grey and cream stripe.

BEFORE– dirty, stained, torn, and worn– but still a great piece!

AFTER–I loved this stripe! Such a great fabric to bring light and life to the newly decorated piano room

She preached the fabric, so the slipcover will be washable as needed.

Side Notes–

We sold our cabin and bought another condo rental up north next to Weber State University
Our oldest son graduated and left to Brazil to serve a 2 year mission for our church. Ummm…that was a crazy, emotional few weeks before and after he left. I’d cry all the time. He’s doing much better after the first 3 weeks passed and he adjusted to his new surroundings and is now understanding Portuguese and is able to piece together some conversations.
We renovated our 2nd condo rental and new renters are moving in in a few weeks. We now own 3 condos and I think I’m content for now with that number.
My other two sons have taken up mountain biking and are loving it!

Man Couch

Over the summer amid all the crazy vacations, I did this couch for a very nice gentleman that had a vision of what he wanted. He did a great job pulling all his fabrics together.

Couch-BEFORE— It had a large floral chenille slipcover on it before. They loved how deep the couch was and how comfortable it was and wanted to keep it. So they decided to update it a bit to their new style.

Couch–AFTER! Modern fabric geometric print and suede cushions.

I made sure to match up all the stripes and we had to get creative with some of the pillows to maximize the leather hide.

Here is the leather hide. I had to work around holes and imperfections. I laid the back side of each cushion/ pillow to make the puzzle fit and get all the pieces I needed. My client was ecstatic with the way it all turned out and encompassed his vision.

SIDE NOTES

Since July I’ve been helping my mom sell her house and downsize into a condo. It’s all coming together this week! The house and condo are both closing in a few days, then we can get her moved and settled in. The boys took full advantage last week and took her riding lawn mower for one more spin.
The boys are in full swing with running and mountain biking. This week we have a cross country meet in the morning and mountain bike race 2 hrs away in the afternoon. I’m just grateful, I can go to both! I love watching my boys race! Last weekend Heber raced with 2 of the boys in a relay mountain bike team and placed 3rd for all male team!
