scrolled back parson chairs

May 30, 2015 by Shelley

My client had a set of scrolled back parson chairs that she wanted redone in white duck cloth. I did these awhile back and realized I never posted about them.IMG_9351 Chair–BEFORE

IMG_9353 Chairs–AFTER–whole new look!

IMG_9357Did pleat on back corners only and wrapped a whole skirt section around the front to keep the look more simple.

Swivel rocker

May 28, 2015 by Shelley

My client wanted me to redo her swivel rocker that used to be her moms. It was the perfect shape and size to nestle next to her bed in the master bedroom.IMG_3931Chair–BEFORE–lots of love. I tore of the skirt and cut off the attached upper cushion before slipcovering.

Chair–AFTER with box pleat skirt and separate back cushions.

I used velcro to keep the top back cushion from falling off.

IMG_3934Much better! I love that she was able to use something that had sentimental value. You can’t beat the comfort and scale of those old chairs!

SIDE NOTE–Summer’s about here! 2 more days of school! I’m gearing up for all the craziness summer has to offer! Scout camps, camping at the beach, family reunion on the Oregon coast, paddle boarding, bike rides to Chevron and staying at our cabin in Midway, Ut. I still have lots of availability at the cabin if you are interested! $50/night and you change the linens when you leave. Email me with your dates!

Slipcover Workshop June 5-6

May 6, 2015 by Shelley

workshopjune
I’m excited to offer another slipcover workshop June 5-6! The last one went so well–I decided to schedule another one!

I have 15 years of slipcovering experience and would love to show you some tricks of the trade, whether you are interested in making your own slipcovers or aspire to start your own business at some point.

DETAILS

*June 5th and 6th, 2015 (2 day workshop–to ensure everyone isn’t rushed and has time to finish their project)

*9am-4pm both days

*Bring a chair, pre washed fabric, thread, tape measure, scissors, quilting pins, and sewing machine with zipper foot (If you are flying in from out of state, I will provide chair and fabric for you)

*Choose a simple lined chair. I wouldn’t recommend a wingback for your first project. Wingbacks have a lot more seams and curves and are more time consuming.

*I”ll supply piping, zippers, and serger

*1st day–sew piping, pin fit, and sew main body

*2nd day–add skirt detail and sew box cushion.

*Class sized capped at 4 spots

COST

$250 (Includes lunch both days)

LOCATION

On site at my work studio in Eagle Mountain, UT

What you will gain from this experience

-Basic slipcovering skills

-Learn how to make piping, install zipper with ease, and complete your 1st slipcover

-Skills to recover your own stuff over and over to your hearts desire

*Workshop is for beginner to intermediate sewers–you need to be familiar and comfortable with your machine and have basic sewing skills.

*My cabin is available for overnight guests at no extra cost. 1hr 15min away.
